One of my favorite things about Central and South America is how exciting it is when something is especially cheap compared to prices in the States. Here are a few things I have noticed so far in Ecuador:
Riding the bus–$0.25
Most of the taxi rides we have taken so far–$1.00
3 liters of bottled water–$0.91
A two scoop waffle cone–$1.45
A large package of Club Social crackers–$1.08
Don’t get me wrong, some things are much more expensive and I’m sure they will frustrate me greatly as we try to set up our household (electronics and linens are especially expensive), but when that happens I know I can just go eat cheap ice cream!
