So on Friday one of my students brought me a Christmas present. I had not expected any presents much less this Friday. However she came in with a huge box and said Merry Christmas Mr. Lopez. I thanked her and told her she didn’t need to do that but she said she wanted to. None the less I was going to wait to open it when I had a free period but she insisted I do it then and not to be gentle with the paper but rather to tear it off. So I obliged figuring it was the least I could do. To my surprise it was a remote controlled Ferrari. I immediately laughed as all the kids did the same. To explain the humor in this I need to give you a background story. Often when I am teaching the students say “I want…” whether it is food, a pass or any number of other things. I immediately respond with “Well I want a Ferrari but we don’t always get what we want” so the students have gotten to saying Oh Mr. Lopez you and your Ferrari. So she trumped me and has forced me to think of saying something different, which I think she is very aware of and very proud of herself (good for her). I haven’t completely thought about what to say yet but I know the kids will be anxiously awaiting to hear what I come up with this time as they plan their retort of well you have a Ferrari. So I have included some pictures of me and the Ferrari. I think I might take Caitlin for a ride in it this weekend. And you will be happy to Know I have not wrecked it yet and I really will be playing with it.
