A while back, as I was reading the New York Times, I came across an article that mentioned that Christo was putting together an installation in Italy. I think Caitlin might have been having a rough day and I knew that she had enjoyed seeing Christo’s Gates in New York so I said that we should go. Fast forward and we are now currently in Sale Maresino viewing the piers and have had the chance to walk on them twice. The reports that mentioned record numbers and fraying were accurate but also sensationalized, as we were able to spend our first day in town wandering the piers and also managed to see Christo riding by on a boat checking everyone out. We wandered and lounged on the piers and got off right before a thunderstorm rolled through. While we got a chance to see them in the evening we hadn’t had enough, so today we got an early start and walked across them again. We then walked around the island Monte Isola and were treated with some amazing views.
I had never been to a Christo event but I’m glad to have a wife who geeks out for Art installations of massive magnitude. Maybe we’ll make it to Over the River in Colorado.
A few of the multitude of pictures.
