As a means of getting accustomed to all the options in the Art room, I decided to do a media experiment project early on in the year with my 7th and 8th graders.  We went over the concepts of proportion and motion and then we did some gesture drawings using a wide variety of different media options.  Every student was required to test out each material and then could choose what to continue with as they designed their final composition.

In the end, they each collaged their figures together in a unified manner, choosing to add additional features and elements as needed.  The results were very fun, colorful, and unique, but best of all, they all demonstrated a strong understanding of motion and proportion!
