Monochromatic Self-Portraits

My 7th graders finished up first semester by learning about Pop Art and creating monochromatic self-portraits.  I took their picture (or had them send me a childhood photo) and then posterized it in Photoshop to make it a bit easier for them to determine the values.  I taught this unit previously to 10th graders, but I was a bit worried that 7th graders were struggle to determine the different values so this added step was an attempt to increase success.  I think in the long run, some students would have been just fine without it, but those that struggled even with the posterized picture would have really struggled without it so even though it feels a bit like cheating, I’ll take it!
Here are a few that I’m really excited to put on display after the holidays!
