Driving in the Philippines

While traveling through the Philippines this spring break we got a chance to see some very different types of transportation. I think this is one of the largest differences from Latin America. I’ll provide explanations with the pictures.
Jeepneys. We rented one of these the day we went to the rice terraces as the roads required more clearance than the car we were in. Jeepneys are homemade jeeps that are used as mini buses or for tour groups. The whole body is made by some relatively local mechanic and for this reason no two Jeepneys seem to be identical.

On the way to Banaue we saw a lot of trikes driving around but there were multiple ones that had a pig strapped to the roof. This pig is alive and surprisingly calm.

Cause, theres always room for one more on a trike.
