Getting middle school kids to read for fun can sometimes be a daunting task, but Alex has all sorts of tricks up his sleeve!
Book reports get old quick, so to spice things up a little, Alex had his students put on a book fair for the 6th and 7th graders. The 8th graders took over the lunch room, dressed like characters from their books and displaying big posters. Each younger kid got 20 Lopez Dollars and directions to spend their money on the book they were most convinced to read. Alex counted up the money and the student who earned the most got an excellent grade and her choice of a brand new book ordered from Amazon.
