“Miss, I have girl egg!”
I probably don’t have to tell you that I was more than a little confused when a seventh grader said this to me about a month ago. When I looked at him like he was crazy, he went on to explain that the word “hueva” is slang for lazy and since it is the feminine version of the Spanish word for egg he translated it into “girl egg.” I had to laugh…and then I told him to quit being lazy and get back to work!
Since then, his Spanish/English translation has morphed into what he told me today…

“Miss, I have egga!”
His laziness is a little frustrating, but at least he keeps me laughing during class!
Which 7th grader said this?
