During first quarter, my high school ceramics students mastered the pinching technique. I think they thought I was crazy when I told them they were going to make upwards of 20 pots. In the end, the each ended up with anywhere from 5 to 15 pots, but I was glad I set the bar high for them. They experimented with different forms and glaze techniques and after the first few pots, really started to get creative. The end result turned out to be an interesting progression of their achievement as well as a good lesson in thinking outside the box.
As I was taking pictures of the pinch pots, I realized that it would have worked better to snap photos before they were actually on display so forgive the metal shelving units and somewhat bizarre basement lighting.
The basement of our school has long hallways lined with these great display cases so I had the students fill one entire hallway with their work. In the future, I would love to organize these cases a little bit better so that the shelves line up, but for now I’m pretty happy with all the fun pots on display.
Those are really good, and the shapes are really intricate.

These are wonderful! I'm so glad they get to put them on display so everyone can see. Just looking at these will expand how you look at anything. Very, very creative. Have you ever thought about a Souper Bowl sale?
