Vocabulario-Chepiando

Chepiando is a word the kids use in my class a lot. The basic translation into English is “copying.” It comes up during the many conversations we have about what is copying in art and what is getting inspiration from other people’s ideas.
For example, this week I suggested they walk around the room and look at other people’s projects if they were having trouble thinking of their own ideas. This of course led to, “But Miss, he’s gonna chepiando me!”
Obviously, copying is not encouraged, but I do want them to realize that sharing ideas and getting inspiration are important aspects of the art making process….differentiating between the two ideas is proving to be difficult though…
