All About Me

I decided to start this year off with some All About Me types of projects. I figured this was not only a good way to get to know the sixth graders quickly, but a good way to remind myself about the individual personalities of the seventh graders. The sixth graders haven’t finished their projects yet, but the seventh graders worked hard and came up with these great name banners.
We focused on the artist Henri Matisse and his style of collaging colored papers together. Each student was required to display their name and at least 5 things about themselves, either characteristics, likes, or hopes for the future. After talking about overlapping, composition, and craftsmanship, everything got glued together. Now the hallways are filled with colorful posters and the eighth graders are begging to make them too.
