Happy Thanksgiving!
People seem to be curious about how an American holiday like Thanksgiving works in Honduras so we thought we’d fill you in.
The teachers have planned a “fun reading day” for Thanksgiving Day so the kids are here out of uniform and are spending most of the day reading and having parties…no regular class. They also get out at noon. This is fabulous for us because we have a 1:50 flight to the beach! There is no school Friday, so we are headed to Utila, one of the Bay Islands. There are 6 of us in our group and we plan to do lots of snorkeling and scuba diving…hopefully the weather’s nice!
There is no turkey in the near future for us. The elementary classrooms planned a Thanksgiving dinner where the parents supply the meal, but the middle school was not so organized. We’ll have to settle for all the junk food that our students brought in for their parties!
We miss you all and hope you’re having a fabulous holiday weekend!
